Separation (How to save at least $2000 in legal fees):
If you or someone you know, had the unfortunate experience of being forced into a marriage separation for no fault of theirs and they did not know what to do, the first thing most people would think of would be to go to a lawyer. Correct? Now, if they have the good fortune of personally knowing a good lawyer or they had exposure to free legal advice, they would be actually seeking the right information to empower them with knowledge so that they can deal with the matter of separation.
On the other hand if they did not have the good fortune of obtaining free legal advice, most people would seek a divorce lawyer to give them advice (information) to enable them to proceed further. Whilst most divorce lawyers tell you that the first half-hour or hour is free, they do not tend to give you all the information and thus many people end up paying around $2000 just to complete the first step in the separation process. This is where we believe consumers need to be helped with information to save at least the first $2000 to complete the initial step in the separation process. Do you agree with us so far? Once you complete the initial step on your own and still need or have to proceed to court, at least you have saved $2000 and can now use this saving to seek appropriate legal advice. Even the next step is a matter of choice and once again having the right information will enable you to save money and time down the road. P.S. This tip is for the majority of “standard” separation cases. There are some cases which may be complicated and would need legal advice at the first stage of separation, e.g. criminal charges, etc. You are therefore advised to seek legal counsel immediately under such circumstances.
